Designer

Over the last few years, I became interested in design. I enrolled in graphic design classes at Minnesota State University, Mankato while also pursuing my MFA in Creative Writing. During my three years in the department, I was Operations Manager for Blue Earth Review, a literary magazine. I designed the layout for the bi-yearly magazines and rebranded the magazine, including a new logo design. I also redesigned the logo and posters for Good Thunder Reading Series, a campus event series.

I redesigned the logo, website and promotional materials including social and print menus for Wine Cafe, a local business in Mankato, MN.

As Operations Editor for the campus literary magazine, I became frustrated by our lack of promotional materials. The logo itself was boxy and though it was adequate when placed in the corner of the magazine, it didn’t transfer well to other mediums. I took it upon myself to redesign the logo and create a graphic system that could be used for a variety of promotional materials both print and digital. I even Art Directed a photo shoot of local landmarks to use for print promos.

As Graduate Assistant for The Good Thunder Reading Series, I took it upon myself to redesign the series posters.
